Recent Check-Ups

Since we've all been sick with this awful stomach virus, and in addition to the fact that we have 2 kids under the age of 2, it seems we've practically lived at the pediatrician's office. The nurses are probably sick of me. Gabe can now say "doctor" and recognizes the office building, if that tells you anything.Besides that, Gabe and Gavin have both had their 'well baby' check ups this month...Gavin for passing the 9 month milestone and Gabe for passing his 2nd birthday (this was the first opportunity we had since Feb to get him in).

Gavin is 29 inches long and weighs 18 lbs, 4 ozs. He is doing quite well, developmentally, with crawling, pulling up to stand, and generally cruising along. He is also saying Da Da now and is about to cut his 8th tooth (that sounds like alot, but when they are coming in 2 at the time, it's not all that bad). He's a real trooper and does new things most every day. He does his best to keep up with Gabe. I'm sure in the next 3 months or so when he starts walking, it'll be a whole new ballgame for all of us!

Gabriel is 37 inches tall and weighs 32 lbs, 4 ozs. He is also doing well developmentally and continues to hang in the 95th %-ile across the board (he has since birth!) He is saying his ABC's and identifying all of the letters both upper- and lower-case. He can count and identify numbers 1-20 and knows all of his shapes and colors too. He just loves learning new things. In the past month or so we have noticed he is really comprehending ALOT more and is attempting to put 3-4 word sentences together to make sense to us more and more. It's so amazing to watch him grow and learn. He helps with Gavin and tells us when "brother's crying". He can brush his teeth by himself and as you may have heard, we're beginning the potty training journey, so wish us luck!

I Scream, You Scream, We all scream for...

We took the boys for ice cream cones today. Well, Gabe got a cone...Gavin got some of Mommy's. Either way, they had a blast. It was a beautiful Spring day and we met his friend Seth at the local ice cream stand.

It should be a fun summer...

Time for potty training

Gabe has hit the point where we think it is time to potty train him. He will now come and tell us when he's gone to the bathroom, saying 'Poop...changeit'. He also says 'erniediaper', letting us know his wardrobe preference.

With that in mind, we bought one of the toilet trainer seats and a step stool. This is his first foray into the land of big boy potties. He didn't do anything other than smile pretty, but we have high hopes.

Today was MY Friday the13th!!

Gavin has been sick with some kind of stomach virus since Sunday and so Mommy has been hard at work with cleaning up diarrhea and vomit and washing sheets and bedding and changing a million soiled clothes for both of us. In addition to trying to care for 2 yr old Gabe, keep him on schedule, & get some rest all while holding a sick, cranky, tired, infant! Ugh! Needless to say, it's been a long week already and it's only Wed AM.

Gavin seems to finally be starting to feel better and holding in some liquids, no solids yet, but I think Gabe was feeling a little left out.....here's why.

Yesterday afternoon when I went into his room to get him up from his nap, (I should preface this by saying he's learned to remove his own diaper in the past week), so I go in and the whole room stinks, his diaper is off and lying on the floor outside the crib, he's jumping around nude from the waist down, and his feet, legs, covers, sheets, etc are covered in POOP! I could have just died! I had to give him a bath, strip the bed, and wash all of the linens before he could do anything else. It was a real mess. I can assure you, there is a reason there is no photo with this blog post. :)

Daddy sent me out for a pedicure after it was all over, but not before he had a good laugh about it. Guess I'm able to laugh now too, but we're in full-on potty-training mode, PRONTO!! Gabe will be wearing pull ups to bed and learning about the potty so this won't happen again anytime soon.

Wagon rides

It's springtime, which means time for wagon rides. Gabe and Gavin love to be pulled around the neighborhood in their Radio Flyer wagon. (Plus, it's good exercise for Mommy and Daddy)

Splish splash...

The boys are bathing together now. Actually they have been for a few months, but now Gavin is more than an observer in the process. He's splashing away just like Gabe. For your viewing pleasure:

Future troublemakers

Someday, these kids are going to be Trouble. (Notice the capital 'T' for effect)
