Baby's First Trick or Treat

As Daddy has previously expressed, he thought this was completely nuts, but we went trick or treating around our neighborhood anyways. Gabe and the little girl from down the street went together (with parents) and we collected candy at 5-6 houses just after dark. It was really fun and the neighbors loved seeing the little ones. One neighbor thought Gabe was a martian b/c of the antennae and all the green. The metallic gold tie was a big hit too. Our "Dalmatian" friend went crazy if anyone had a dog when they came to the door; she's an animal lover. It was so much fun and Daddy has lots of candy and goodies to eat. Mommy can't wait to do it again next year!!

Wouldn't you leave your light on and pass out candy to these cuties?

Costume Parade

They had a costume parade at Gabe's school and we went to walk with him in it. His infant classmates either walked with their parents or were pushed in a buggy that holds 4-6 infants. There was a pumpkin, a SpiderMan, a chicken, and a caterpillar (that was Gabe) in his class. We, of course, think Gabe was the cutest baby there. Many of the costumes were creative and the kids walked all over the playground showing themselves off. It was a beautiful fall day.

We can't wait to go trick or treating, WooHoo!

Baby's First Halloween

Baby Gabe and I wore orange all day on the 31st and he had a bib that said Baby's First Halloween and his outfit said Trick or Treat. He was so adorable and I was so excited about the whole holiday. Daddy took this without even looking and it turned out pretty decent.

So I caved...can you blame me?

Okay, so I admit I was against dressing Gabe up in a costume for Halloween. And I was dead set against spending a lot of money on a costume for an infant. So how the heck did Jules get me to find this catepillar costume for Gabe and be willing to spend a stupid amount of money on it???

Oh yeah, because he is freakin' cute in it. I mean, seriously...look at him. It is almost criminal how cute this baby is....

Here comes the Great Pumpkin

Today Jules and Gabe carved his first Halloween pumpkin. Okay, well maybe Jules carved and Gabe just stayed out of the way of the pretty lady with the large knife. Jules gets more than a little whacky about holidays, and Halloween is no exception. She creates elaborate faces for pumpkins, entertains crazy ideas about dressing Gabe up in elaborate costumes, and wants to take an infant Trick-or-treating. Yep...more than a little whacky.

Oooh....scawy pumpkin.....

The Art of Manipulation

Gabriel has learned the art of manipulation and I must say it is truly adorable. When one of us leaves the room he immediately begins to pout and cry and even produces real tears. Its' so pitiful. But then, when you return to the room, he instantly stops crying and laughs or smiles at you and if you pick him up he burries his head in your shoulder, sweetly and coyly. So precious & so smart!

The other new thing he's doing is leaning over backwards and looking shyly at you with a smile. You've heard people say that if you look up a word in the dictionary, that someone's picture should be there, well, when you look up the word coy, here's what you should see:

coy(koi) - adj: affectedly modest or shy especially in a playful or provocative way

Splishin' & A Splashin'

Gabe has a nighttime routine for bath and bed and he gets a kick out of being in the tub. He has a special seat that Daddy bought which allows him to sit up and me to bathe him very easily and it's comfortable for both of us. He also has a soft rubber duck on the tub faucet so that he won't hurt his head if he bumps it.

Gabe loves to play in the tub and has a few preferred tub toys. He has learned about splashing and has learned about sucking the warm water out of the washcloths. He doesn't mind having his hair washed and we have lots of fun at bathtime every night....See?

5 Star Rated Toy

Baby Gabe has started standing up with a little support, as you may have seen, but Daddy ordered him a new toy that got 5 stars and it arrived today!

It's a musical table that plays more than 40 melodies and songs and has animals and buttons that play instruments like piano, banjo, trombone, and drums. Gabe can sit or stand beside the table and interact with all of the musical features it has. He just giggles and beams when he does it & it's helping his coordination. Mommy loves those educational toys and this one is first rate!

Tigger

The Wonderful Thing about Tiggers, Is Tiggers are Wonderful Things!

Gabe is trying on costumes and deciding what he'll be for his upcoming First Halloween. This is a bunting that we received when he was born, but it was too big when the weather was much cooler and too hot when it fit. Now, it might make a cute Halloween costume in a couple of weeks, but it's almost too small. He enjoyed wearing it and playing around in it. I wonder what Mommy and Daddy will dress as? Maybe Pooh and Eeyore?

I love the Fall, changing seasons and Halloween. I know Gabe will have fun going trick or treating around our neighborhood for the first time and we'll take pictures no matter what he ends up wearing. I hope the weather cools down in the next few weeks. I can't wait to carve a pumpkin with him! He's going to love it!
