1st Shower

For as long as I can remember, Gabe has not wanted to get his head and face wet. He cried when we washed his hair and if he went swimming, he kept his head out of the water mostly. We've really struggled to help him overcome this fear and assure him that he's ok. Recently Gabe's done much better and has been putting his face in the pool and bath, blowing bubbles, and pouring the rinse water over his own head. He's been curious about taking a shower so his Daddy has been working on it with him and talking about it alot....Tonight, Gabe decided to brave new territory and he asked me if he could take a shower. I warned him that he would get his head wet and that the water would come down like rain and he just said "yeah!" So I turned it on and he climbed in. Hard to believe he's getting so big and that this was his FIRST SHOWER! He even knows how to wash himself and he really liked the shower experience.

Mudsy

Crayola makes this thing called 'Sudsy Mudsy', and, as you can see from the picture, the boys love it. Gavin is practically going native. As near as I can tell, it is like the facial mask stuff, just minus anything but the soap part. Tonight they finished off the last of the green (just look at the water!) and next bathtime will be moving on to blue.


They can't wait, and neither can I.

Happy Birthday Gavin

Gavin turned two today. He had a big weekend, with a Build-a-bear party yesterday and presents and activities today. Here are some of the pictures of him opening presents, riding his new Plasma Car, and rocking out with his big brother.

Dog Whisperer

"Mommy, I'm walking my big buddy dog, Wilbur" Gabe yells. He loves to take Wilbur to the park and walk him around. He holds the loop on the leash and runs and walks and Wilbur follows. Gabe wants to do it all by himself. It's been so hot that I feel bad having that fluffy chow out in the July heat, but he's been a champ about it! The boys love their dog!

Sliding

Gabe and Gavin found a new playground and they love it because they can slide 2 at the time on this extra wide one. So much summer fun!

The King One

Gabe called Burger King, "The King one" until he got the fast food restaurant names sorted out by symbol/sign. Gavin is living it up at the King one, complete with his paper crown!

Happy 4th

We'd like to wish all of you a Happy Independence Day.

We celebrated by going swimming, having friends over for a cookout, and watching a fireworks show.
