Word Whiz

So Daddy wants us to try to add Gabe's new words each month or so, so that you will be able to see all the new things he's learning. It's so exciting and he tries to say new words all the time now. Here are a few from the past couple of weeks.

Ernie- his favorite character on Sesame Street ( I think he even likes Ernie better than Elmo!)
Eyes- he can find them and he pokes them hard so be ready if you ask him to show you "eyes"
Go- he loves to do 1-2-3-GO, and jump into your arms; he said it first at Aunt T's house in FL
Hair- he sounds more like "he" but he even points to his head/hair or pulls yours when you ask
In- he puts blocks in a bucket or cup and he puts things "in" a closet and closes the door
Light- he turns off his own bedroom light before bed each night by pressing the lever
Please- has only said this a handful of times, but tries hard to say it when asked
Water- he says "wat" and we just realized TONIGHT that he knows that watermelon is also something that sounds like "wat" so he kept saying it until we gave him some more!

He has also started to clap along with his Barney videos and is attempting to open doors using the knob (which he is tall enough to reach). Guess we've got more babyproofing to do around here, but we enjoy seeing him do new things.

Say Cheeeeeeze!

Gabe has a new "camera face" that he likes to show off. This is the newest thing he does just in time for the picture to snap of him. I don't know if he's copying someone he saw or if he's just being silly, but it is absolutely hysterical to ask him to smile or say cheese and watch his face turn to THIS! Do you think it's a sign that we try to take entirely too many pictures of him and he's really got the upper hand? That couldn't possibly be the case!!

Hanging Out

We went to FL to visit relatives before the new baby arrives (in less than 8 wks) and Gabe had a great time. Here he is after a long day at the pool, hanging out in the hammock with Papa Randy. He really liked swinging in the hammock and playing outside in the FL sunshine. We are both glad to be back home though.

Eatin' Chips

Gabe loves to eat and has discovered potato chips/tortilla chips and he likes them alot. Weighing in at a whopping 27 pounds at 15 months of age, he loves to eat and I'm really glad that he will try new things when they are offered. However, we do try to limit the chip intake, but this was a special occasion!!

Sour Puss

Gabe recently tried lemons for the first time. I guess some kids are "lemon eaters" but he, fortunately, is not one of them. He thought it was pretty cool to hold them and chew on them and then he got some lemon juice and puckered up. He always asks for "Wat" (AKA water) and he sees ice and lemon in our water so he thinks he should have it in his sippy cup of water as well.

Smartie Britches!

We are SO proud of Gabe for all he has learned this past year, or a little more (14 months), and we just realized while on our recent vacation (after seeing other kids about his age) how large his vocabulary is. We started to think about how many words he actually knows and uses correctly, in contex, and it's pretty surprising. You might not believe it until you can hear him for yourself, but he actually gets it. What a whiz!

Here is a list of all 40 of the words Gabe currently has mastered....
