Last days of Summer

Well, it is Labor Day weekend, and summer is almost over. So we celebrated by going out for ice cream. These boys *love* ice cream. To the point that when you ask Gabe what he wants for dinner, he will say "chocolate ice cream".

So here we are, and Gavin is powering down some vanilla. Only time will tell how stupid I am for giving toddlers ice cream so soon before bedtime...

Yoga Nuts

The kids learn yoga poses at their school as part of their weekly fitness routine and indoor play, so when one of them started facing the floor on his hands and lifting up one leg I didn't think much of it.  But, when both of them started doing it, I felt like there was a little yogini class being held right in my living room. This really is a yoga pose called 'downward facing dog' and the boys are pretty coordinated because I've been practicing for quite some time to perfect the move myself. I just had to get the camera out when they were dressed in matching PJ shirts and doing yoga simultaneously!

Chinny Chin Chin

Gavin has just learned where his 'chin' is and he was so proud of himself. When asked, he can point to his nose, mouth, hair, ears, (he gets mixed up on eyes and points to anything on his face), but he has learned chin and was showing Gabe and practicing his pointing.
Just darling!

Future Hall of Famer?

Gabe and Gavin have discovered tee ball. And they love love love it. They each pick up a bat and they each get a ball and then they take turns trying to whack it off the tee. Gabe is actually pretty good, and Gavin is getting there, even if you have to help him hold the bat correctly (which he hates, since he wants to do it all by himself).

Gabe even has a little Babe Ruth in him, trying to call his shots.

"Daddy, I'm going to hit it to the fence." And sometimes he even does.

Big Boy potty- Take II

Gavin is a quick study and being that he wants to do everything his big brother does is a good thing in areas such as using the big boy potty...Gavin has been sitting on the potty some and he points to tell me when he has "tee tee", and needs to be changed but we hadn't had success on the toilet until now....Gavin had his first poo poo in the potty this morning. I was thrilled and Gabe even honored him with the infamous "poo poo dance". Exciting time. And with the current gas prices...it'd be nice to at least save on diapers! We'll see?

Gabe the Builder

Gabe has had and eventful summer at daycare and they have had lots of guests come in to visit. Up till now, his favorite was the dentist, with the chef a close second, but today when Lowe's came....it took the cake! He got to build his own bookends and they are adorable. He wore an apron and safety goggles that he got to keep and bring home and he used a real hammer and nails to assemble the 2 bookends with a sun and a moon cut out in them. Now he wants to hammer everything!!
His teachers both said it was quite a LOUD project with 4o kids hammering all at once, but Gabe is really proud of himself. I wish the photo was better, but the bookends actually came out great!!

Little rock stars

These kids take music seriously. They want to "play rock band", "be rock stars", sing, dance, and play guitar all the time.

I bought them real guitars (just smaller), and they play them constantly. Gabe is even giving me lessons, telling me to "strum with my thumb".

I think it will be time to start real guitar lessons for them soon enough.
