Rockstar Respite

Even true rockstars need to power up now and then with a little shut eye! Gabe didn't think he needed to nap, but fell asleep this afternoon with his sunglasses on and I couldn't resist capturing it to share! Rock hard, Rest hard!

Hopscotch

Gavin got a new game for his birthday and is practicing his hopping skills. I never really thought about how difficult hopping on one foot is for kids, but he's a determined little guy. Think that tongue is helping him???

Superhero night

Gavin's birthday has kind of filled "the news" lately, so tonight's
post is about Gabe meeting Batman.

Our local Chick-fil-a has a kid's night every week. Normally, they do
an ice cream sundae bar or have a clown. But last night, they had
"superhero night", with a chance to meet Batman. Needless to say,
Gabe was overjoyed.

All evening long, Gabe kept getting up and walking over to Batman to
ask questions relevant to a future life of crime fighting. He wanted
to know who the bad guys were, what his secret identity is, and a slew
of other interesting topics.

And, of course, he wanted his picture taken.

You say it's your birthday!

Happy birthday Gavin.

Ex-cal-aa-tur

We needed some things from the mall, so the boys had a good time riding the escalators up and down.

It was kind of funny how they would get to the bottom and immediately want to go back to the top. Get to the top and immediately want to go back to the bottom. In fact, if I had let them, I am sure we would have been there until security kicked us out.

Since it was Gavin's birthday weekend, I let them do one circuit for each year of Gavin: three up and three down. Seemed fair to me.

Cupcakes and cement ponds

Today was Gavin's pool party, and it was a rousing success. Many of
his little friends from school came and everyone swam and ate pizza
and cupcakes, just like a birthday should go.

A funny note about it. Gavin knew he was having a Mickey Mouse
themed swimming party and couldn't wait for it. He would ask almost
everyday when his party was happening. Whenever Gabe would ask if
someone could come to the party, Gavin would sweetly say "yes". Then
Gabe would ask if he could come, and Gavin would say "no", which would often make Gabe cry. (Note to self: never let a two-year-old taste power. Gavin was drunk with it...)

Thankfully, Gavin relented and Gabe was allowed to attend. There were
only a few back room deals cut to make that happen...

Roller coaster

Well, it is the weekend before Gavin's birthday, and it promises to be
a crazy one. We opened the weekend with playing on the roller
coaster that Gavin got for his birthday. Tomorrow is the swimming
pool and heaven knows what the rest of the weekend will hold.

But Gavin absolutely knows it is his birthday and can't stop talking
about it.

Fun at school

The boys really love going to school. I remember how troubling it was
to contemplate putting the boys into daycare, but those days (and
thoughts) are long gone.

They love their school, and have made so many friends there that it
amazes me to this day. Gavin's party next week will be chock full of
school friends. Their lives are richer because of their going to this
school. Plus, they get to do really cool activities....

Girlfriends

Gabe is turning out to be quite the little ladies' man. I don't
really have much to add to that, just that what is really cute at four
might just be a nightmare at 14.

At least if you have a daughter....

Of pirates and play forts

A long time ago, Poppa Owen bought the boys a play fort to go in the
back yard. Complete with a rock wall, a slide, three swings, a
trapeeze, and a picnic table, this thing is the stuff of little kid
dreams.

Well, fast forward a year and change and it is finally put together.
The boys are real excited to play on it, and I am certain it will
feature prominently in many photos and blog posts to come.

Today also happened to be "pirate and princess" day at school, so the
picture comes with the added treat of pirate hats.
