Scooter king

Right on cue, Gabe is suddenly a little boy who wants to ride
skateboards and scooters. I think my own skateboard inadequacy has
kept me from being willing to get him one, but scooters are a whole
different story. After riding his cousin's and neighbor's Razor
scooter, he was already proficient. After getting a weekend with his
own, he is already wanting to try stunts.

My only fear is that his last words will be, "Hey y'all...watch this!"

Happy Easter

Nothing to add, as everyone is too busy eating jely beans and
chocolate eggs. But here the boys are in their Easter attire.

Happy St. Patrick's day

St. Patrick's day doesn't have the same significance for the boys as
other holidays, mainly because they don't get candy or gifts. However
that doesn't mean they don't appreciate a chance to dress in green.

Happy St. Paddy's day everyone.

Happy Birthday Gabe!

Gabe is five, and has suddenly gone from a little boy to a big boy.
He loves sports and superheroes, and can't wait to learn how to play
an instrument and ride a skateboard.

His comprehension and capability for learning are off the charts (I'm
biased, so sue me) and his physical coordination has caught up. He
wants to climb everything and jump off it when he gets to the top.

It's hard to imagine what he will do this year, but I can hardly wait.

Dentist visit

Well, today was Gabe's first trip to the dentist, and, as you can see,
he handled it like a champ. They cleaned him up and gave him an even
better smIle than before (as if that was possible!).

Next up... Gavin.

Snow day redux

Last Friday, Atlanta got hit by the snow storm that had hit most of the country. In just a few hours, we got about three inches of snow, and it was the slightly wet snow that is perfect for snowball fights and making snow men. It was tough to get good pictures, because the snow was coming down and hitting the lens, but I definitely tried.

Bed of nails

I took the boys to the Children's science museum recently. I was worried that they would be a bit young to enjoy it, and boy was I wrong. They might not have understood the science of it, but they loved the giant experiments. Here is Gabe learning how lying on a bed of nails doesn't hurt because your weight is distributed over a larger surface area...

Playing Wii

video

Something really cool is happening as the boys get older. It's not like it is something new, or unique to them, but it is new for me. They are returning to things that used to be too complex or too hard, and now able to master them. Case in point, the Wii.

Before, if the boys saw me play a video game, they would want to play but be unable to master the controls. But the Wii has games specifically made for little kids, ones that guide them through how to play in easy steps. Plus, and the importance of this can't be overstated, the motion controller of the Wii remote makes it so much easier and intuitive to play games that it has to be seen to be believed.

Here is a video of Gavin playing a Dora game for your viewing pleasure...

Super suds

Recently Mr. Bubble came out with a thick, foamy soap with the consistency of shaving cream. Needless to say, the boys love it...
