Gabe: 1, Gravity: zero

This was a huge day for Gabe. For months, all he has wanted to do is stand up. If you helped him onto his feet, he would fight to stay upright for as long as you would hold him there. His teachers in day care all commented on how strong he was, particularly his upper body control (which comes from me flinging him around, much to Jules' dismay).

So today I am sitting in the 'Hexagon of Doom' with him, and he leans forward and tries to climb up my shirt to a standing position. I put my hands out to give him something to grab onto, and I'll be damned if he doesn't reach right out, grab my hands, and pull himself straight up to a standing position.

Later, I got outside his pen, sat him near the edge and placed my hands out for him to grab, but with the wall in between. He reached for me, but when he hit the wall he stopped trying. I got up and left the room for a second, and when I returned, there Gabe was, pulling himself up along the wall.

My Dad mentioned that I walked real early, and the pediatrician said not to be surprised if Gabe skips crawling altogether and goes straight to walking. Sheesh...might have to hurry up and babyproof the house...

"This cage can't hold me!"
